(Expired) [Targeted] Earn 100 Free AA Miles To Extend Expiry

We’re always fans of when loyalty promotions hand out free miles, such as the 100 free AA miles with this one, to help prevent our balance from expiring.

The below deal has now expired. Follow us for more deals!

Promotion details

We’ve heard the promotion details can vary, but let’s start with what shows on my account:

  • Earn 100 AA free miles just for enrolling
  • Each qualifying activity completed earns 500 bonus miles, up to 1,000 bonus miles total:
    • Shop the AAdvantage eShopping mall,
    • Dine at AAdvantage Dining restaurants,
    • Buy tickets through AAdvantage Events
  • Complete any two activities to earn 1,000 more bonus AA miles
  • Qualifying activity must be between December 15, 2025 and February 28, 2026
  • Register by December 31, 2025 at 11:59 CT

From what we’ve seen, where the promotion varies is mostly in how many bonus AA miles you can earn. But the 100 AA free miles is constant.

Child accounts aren’t eligible

If you check the terms of many AA promotions, you’ll find that minors aren’t eligible. This particular promotion doesn’t explicitly reference children, but it appears to only be available for those at least 18 years old. Sometimes you can still find a way to add kids to a promotion. In our experience, if you need to register via the Promotions page, you’re not going to be able to do it.

If nothing else, 100 free AA miles extends validity

What I like the most from this promotion is the 100 free AA miles just for signing up. Let’s be real: those 100 miles isn’t going to do much to help you earn enough for your next flight. But where it does help is in extending your American AAdvantage miles another two years.

That’s the thing with many loyalty programs–they’re loyal to you only when you show loyalty (activity) over a period of time. With American Airlines, they want you to have any activity once every 24 months. This includes both earning miles or redeeming miles. Even something as simple as earning 100 AA miles for free through this promotion is enough to extend all miles in your account.

Thankfully, accounts for those under 21 years of age are not subject to the 24-month expiration policy. So, if you’re in charge of the accounts of minors like I am, I don’t need to rely on this promotion to prevent their miles from expiring. And that’s good given they’re not able to enroll in this one.

Remember to sign up (if targeted) by December 31, 2025.
