You might not have paid much attention to Rove Miles before, but it’s incredible what they’ve done in a short period of time adding JAL and SAS.

Rove adds JAL, an excellent Asian program
On March 2, 2026, Rove announced a new transfer partner in JAL Mileage Bank. Though this program is also a transfer partner of both Capital One and Bilt, it turned some heads. Firstly, JAL isn’t a 1:1 transfer partner of Capital One; that bank needs a transfer bonus just to come close to 1:1. And Bilt had just had its massive “Rent Day” promotion to give members an outsized transfer rate to Bilt. The day after that promotion ended is when Rove announced its own transfer partner with a crazy 50% transfer bonus until the end of the month. Talk about stealing thunder.
We love JAL Mileage Bank. Up until a year ago, you wouldn’t find this loyalty program associated with any major transfer partners. And now the program has three. What makes us like JAL Mileage Bank?
- Excellent business class pricing on JAL’s own flights
- Good-to-great pricing on JAL first class flights
- Great pricing on Emirates business class flights
- The program is the king of free stopovers
If you want to go to Japan, odds are you’re looking at either JAL or ANA, two Japanese airlines with great award redemptions.

Followed shortly by SAS, a great unknown program
Only a week later, on March 9, 2026, Rove announced that it added SAS EuroBonus, a loyalty program that everyone else overlooked. (To celebrate, transfers to SAS have a 20% transfer bonus for a month until April 8, 2026.)
Since the program itself is relatively unknown to many living in the US, here is a brief summarization of the sweet spots you should be aware of:
- Business class between the US and Europe for 60,000 points oneway on SAS with no fuel surcharges
- Great award pricing on SAS for families with children under 12
- Partner business class (Delta and Air France) for 140,000 points roundtrip with no fuel surcharges
- Good pricing on domestic Delta flights across all cabins
- Potential great pricing between Hawaii and Pacific (like Australia), if you can find the flights
In other words, it’s an excellent find for Rove to include SAS. While the program would get normal praise from single travelers and couples for its award pricing, we think the family pricing shines even brighter.
- A 50% discount for children aged 2-11 when flying SAS in any cabin
- Lap infants are free on award flights (just pay taxes and fees)
This has us paying more attention to Rove more than before
Let’s face it: it wasn’t that easy to earn Rove miles and it still isn’t. But what makes a bank program great? We’d say it’s the ability to both earn rewards easily and use them where we want to use them. You need both aspects to have a truly great program. With bank programs, typically the reward isn’t directly booking your award on the site but instead the transfer partners it has.
Well, with the inclusions of both JAL and SAS, we’re now paying more attention to the bank program. It had what could best be thought of as an ensemble of leftover programs or those that you could find anywhere else. And now the program has good potential:
| Aeromexico Rewards | Air France / KLM Flying Blue | Air India Maharaja Club |
| Cathay Pacific Asia Miles | Etihad Guest | Finnair Plus |
| Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club | JAL Mileage Bank | Lufthansa Miles & More |
| Qatar Airways Privilege Club | SAS EuroBonus | Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus |
| Turkish Miles&Smiles | Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles | Accor Live Limitless |
Yes, some programs are a bit more of a basket case when it comes to award prices. But it now has two valuable programs not found elsewhere (Lufthansa and SAS) on top of a couple of great options (Flying Blue, JAL, and Qatar). It has all three major airline alliances covered quite well. What more could you want from your redemptions?
The only piece now that’s missing from the program truly taking off is the easy ability to earn. It certainly turned some heads with the novel feature to earn both Rove miles and hotel loyalty credit in a single booking. At this point, it needs a couple of credit card features to really propel the earning potential to a new level. And when that happens, expect this program to reach the next level in everyone else’s mind.
Is it time to earn Rove miles for your portfolio too?
