Another year, another refresh of the Delta 12Status program for Washington state residents who get to earn points cheering on the Seahawks.

What is Delta 12Status?
Delta 12Status is a loyalty scheme specifically for residents of Washington state and is based on how potent the Seattle Seahawks’ passing offense is. Why passing offense? Because the quarterback lets the ball fly down the field during a pass, similar to how a plane flies, natch. Every passing yard (for both home and away games) equals 1 bonus SkyMile in your Delta loyalty account.
On top of bonus miles, Delta 12Status registrants also get:
- Priority boarding (Zone 5) when departing Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
- 12% off purchases on the 12th of each month during football season from the Seahawks’ Pro Shop stores at:
- Renton, Washington
- Lumen Field
The name “12Status” is a derivative of the commonly accepted name given to the Seattle Seahawks fanbase (the “12s” or the “12th Man”). If you have to ask me the significance of the number 12, you’re clearly not an American football fan.
Why the Seattle Seahawks?
Delta has been in a heated competition for the Seattle market with Alaska Airlines. Alaska is the hometown airline of choice for many Seattle residents. While Delta has built itself a hub in Seattle, it’s only second place in the Seattle market. To encourage residents to switch over to Delta, they’ve been using the Seahawks to help promote their Delta 12Status program.
Clearly, by virtue of Delta renewing the promotion for a ninth year, it means the program has generated upside for Delta. It also means they feel they still need the marketing opportunity.

How to register for Delta 12Status
Registering is simple for those residents living in Washington state. You just need to head over to https://12status.com/ and sign up. You’ll want to make sure your address in your SkyMiles account reflects your Washington address to ensure sign up is successful.
How many miles can you earn?
Delta’s news article talks about how they have issued 1.9 billion SkyMiles from this promotion. That’s nice and all, but what does that really mean for you?
To help with figuring out how many miles to expect, let’s look at the Seahawks passing yard in the past eight seasons:
- 2024 season: 4,379 yards
- 2023 season: 4,167 yards
- 2022 season: 4,535 yards (including the postseason)
- 2021 season: 3,815 yards
- 2020 season: 4,419 yards (including the postseason)
- 2019 season: 4,712 yards (including the postseason)
- 2018 season: 3,681 yards (including the postseason)
- 2017 season: 3,979 yards
Remember that each passing yard will give you 1 mile through this promotion. On average, if the Seahawks make it to the postseason, you’re looking at an average of 4,337 extra miles in your account. If they fail to make the postseason, the average drops slightly to 4,085 extra miles. While you might wonder what’s the point in getting roughly 4,000 miles, it’s better than nothing if you’re eligible (plus miles don’t expire).
I’m not going to opine on whether Seattle makes the postseason. If I knew the answer to that, I would be in Vegas at the sportsbook.
Good luck to your mileage balance if you participate!
