Bilt Rewards adds I Prefer Hotel Rewards

As of June 22, 2026, Bilt Rewards added a new hotel transfer partner–one that’s a bit more obscure unless you’re into Citi ThankYou Points. The I Prefer Hotel Rewards program, which can book many (but not all) hotels in the Preferred Hotels & Resorts portfolio, has a host of niche independent hotels.

Points transfer from Bilt Rewards to I Prefer at a rate of 1:2 (1 Bilt point = 2 I Prefer points). We value I Prefer points at a rate of 0.74 cents each, which means you’ll get nearly 1.5 cents of value for each Bilt point. As not all Preferred Hotels & Resorts properties participate in the program, you’ll want to check if the property can be booked with points before you transfer points. You’ll also want to check if it’s worth using points to pay for your stay since award pricing isn’t directly based on the cash price.

If you have Bilt elite status, the minimum transfer involves 1,000 Bilt points. If you do not have Bilt elite status, the minimum transfer is 2,000 Bilt points. All transfers must be in 1,000-point increments.

Bilt now has an impressive line-up of hotel partners

If you’ve blinked, you might have overlooked just how impressive Bilt Rewards’ lineup of hotel partners is:

• Accor Live Limitless (3:2)
• Hilton Honors (1:1)
• I Prefer Hotel Rewards (1:2)
• IHG One Rewards (1:1)
• Marriott Bonvoy (1:1)
• World of Hyatt (1:1)
• Wyndham Rewards (1:1)

At this point, they’re not missing that many hotel partners. Arguably Choice Hotels is the biggest gap in terms of the usual suspects. When Choice is your biggest miss, you know you have good coverage of hotel programs.

Of course, you might not want to transfer points to all hotel partners. We would consider it a bit of a waste to transfer Bilt points over to either Hilton or IHG, which both have low value and a 1:1 ratio. And with the looming Wyndham devaluation, transfers might not make sense there (except perhaps at the cheapest properties).

However, the variety of points means Bilt is becoming a decent safe harbor if your goal ultimately is to spend points to stay in hotels.

I Prefer is arguably a top-three hotel transfer partner for Bilt

Some people might consider the news of adding I Prefer to be a bit ho-hum. We’d look at it differently. Compare the value of what you get for each Bilt Rewards point using the transfer rates above. Each 1 Bilt point gives you:

• 1.6 cents of value via Accor Live Limitless
• 0.4 cents of value via Hilton Honors
• 1.48 cents of value via I Prefer Hotel Rewards
• 0.64 cents of value via IHG One Rewards
• 0.9 cents of value via Marriott Bonvoy
• 2.0 (?) cents of value via World of Hyatt (though they have since devalued 27% since we last updated their value). For simplicity, call it 1.46 cents of value.
• 1.0 cents of value via Wyndham Rewards

Hyatt’s huge retraction and the favorable transfer rate potentially means the average person gets more value from I Prefer than from Hyatt. We’d also peg both programs as trailing Accor. All three seem to be heads and shoulders above the rest of the hotel transfers for your Bilt points.

Surprised? If you’ve been paying attention to the value of Hyatt alternatives, you shouldn’t be. It’s inevitable that programs will devalue further over time. But keeping your points in a safer place (like Bilt) helps reduce your exposure to devaluations. Transfer your points when needed and you’ll be fine.
