The city does not allow cars, but does offer transportation in the form of electric taxis. We were provided with complementary pick up from the train station by the hotel’s electro taxi and driven to the hotel. The electro taxi drove into the hotel’s underground tunnel and dropped us off right in front of the elevator up to the lobby. We could see how these tunnels would be useful in the wintertime snow.
We checked into the hotel at the front desk and was offered a welcome beverage. We selected the Prosecco Valdobbiadene Extra Dry DOC, Villa Sandi, and decided to enjoy our beverage on the outdoor patio. The patio had an outdoor pool that was connected to the indoor pool, and had spectacular views of the village as well as the Matterhorn. We also noticed that the hotel was right next to the lower station of the Schwarzsee – Klein-Matterhorn cable car.
We were escorted upstairs to our double deluxe building C room with a view of the Matterhorn. The room had a large king sized bed and lounging area with a swiveling television that could be viewed from either area. The bathroom was located in the middle of the room and had glass windows with curtains that could be closed for privacy. We stepped out to our balcony, which had a small table and two chairs to use for enjoying the scenic view of the Matterhorn.
The hotel provided complimentary breakfast for guests between 7AM and 10AM, as well as afternoon refreshments from 3PM to 6PM. Chris and I took advantage of both hotel amenities. We also used the connected indoor and outdoor pool with water temperature set to 33 degrees Celsius to sooth our muscles after a day of hiking.
