We got off the train at Stazione Pisa Centrale, and walked for about half an hour under the scorching sun to the Cathedral of Pisa and Tower of Pisa.
Chris and I on Trenitalia Train
The Tower of Pisa is the freestanding bell tower of the cathedral of Pisa. Our first view of the tower was impressive, and the degree of the slant appears to be more prevalent in person than in photographs. Our pre-purchased ticket allowed admission into the Cathedral of Pisa as well as access to climb the stairs to the viewing decks on top of the Tower of Pisa.
We were exhausted by the afternoon heat, the walk to the cathedral, and the climb up the tower. We walked back to the train station to recover under the cool shelter of McDonalds. We tried to order items that we have not seen in the states — Chicken Crispy McBacon and Crocchette di Spinacci e Parmigiana Reggiana. Fries and Coca-Cola were, however, the same as I remembered back home.
