Public transportation from Flughafen Wien (Vienna International Airport) was convenient. City Airport Train (CAT) return ticket was 19.00 Euros per person, and provided non stop service every 30 minutes between the airport and central Vienna. Three stops on the U-Bahn train U3 line (2.20 Euros per trip) took us from the CAT stop to Herrengasse, which was minutes away from the hotel entrance. Upon check in, the front desk informed us that our room was not yet available, but that we could enjoy a complimentary beverage from the lounge. I ordered an antioxidant smoothie and Chris got a lemon tea. We sat at a table by the window and relaxed a bit after our long journey into town. After about an hour, our room was ready and we were escorted upstairs.
As a Hyatt diamond member, Chris has the option of a suite upgrade four times annually on eligible paid nights. Since we were staying at the Park Hyatt Vienna for three nights, Chris used one of his suite upgrades for this stay. The suite had wood, gold, and bronze decor, and the window overlooked Vienna’s fancy shopping area. The suite consisted of separate living and bedroom areas, walk-in closet, and marble bathroom. The Park Hyatt Vienna featured Blaise Mautin bath amenities, which I have not seen since our stay at Park Hyatt Paris Vendome. The room was serviced twice a day, where they clean the bathroom, make the bed, and provide complimentary Voslauer (ohne and prickelnd) water.
We also received complimentary breakfast in The Bank Restaurant (formerly the cashier hall of the historic building) as a Hyatt diamond benefit. The breakfast included an extensive variety in the buffet spread and has made to order eggs (fried, scrambled, omelette) as well as French toast, pancakes, and waffles. The Hyatt diamond benefit includes the option of room service breakfast, but we preferred to sit downstairs in The Bank Restaurant.
Access to the Arany Spa and swimming pool (formerly the vault of the bank in the historic building) was included within the hotel stay. We did not have time to visit this retreat during our short visit to Vienna, but did stop by the area for a few pictures.
Chris made dinner reservations at The Bank Restaurant for our last night in Vienna. We started off with an aperitif suggested by our server. The presentation was quite unique. A frozen sphere of ice surrounded the sweet lemony cocktail, and a small hammer was provided to break open the sphere. The breadsticks were baked fresh in the open kitchen and it was difficult to resist having too many in fear of ruining my appetite for the entrée course. Chris and I shared a bottle of sparkling rose wine to accompany our dinner. Chris ordered the glazed veal breast and I have a roasted lamb loin, both locally from Austria. For dessert, we shared a chocolate soufflé with raspberry sorbet.
We were pleased with our stay at the Park Hyatt Vienna. The food was amazing and the staff was responsive. We would definitely stay here again!
